Hi Otoy team,

can you tell me what this error is? Im using Vdbs in my scene but even when they are OFF Octane will crash.

Hi,
it seems that you are using a no more supported Kepler GPU.
Nvidia has removed the support for Kepler GPUs with compute model lower than 3.5, in CUDA 11.2.

Which GPU model are you using?
If not supported, you need to go back to 2020.1.5.

Im using a 1070 and a k4000. But the k4000 isnt enabled in octane. see screenshot? its disabled. I use the k4000 for my second monitor only and disable it for octane.

Ok, please upgrade to 2020.2.3-R2, and make sure to have a Nvidia driver greater than 456.38.
Please, also download and run GPU-Z:

And share a screenshot from the Graphics Card tab, for all the available Nvidia GPUs, thanks:


You also need to download and install 2020.2.3 Standalone.
You can find it by visiting your personal Downloads area:

At first start, you will be asked to press the Download button, to automatically install a new cuDNN library to run it correctly:

I didnt know i still needed the standalone now that im using the subscripion of octane. Thank you for that piece of info.

For updating should i do the following:

1. Uninstall my current version of Octane Standalone
2. Uninstall Octane C4d from the C4d preferences plugin folder
3. Reinstall latest version of Octane Standalone
4. Reinstall latest version of Octane C4d plugin

Is that the process?
Do i need to worry about deactivating my account first?

Hi,
no, you should not need to deactivate your licenses.
About Standalone, it is not necessary to uninstall it, you can have several Standalone versions in your system without issues.
Only thing that must uninstalled / removed is the c4doctane plugin, before update it to the latest version.
