Hello everyone, recently I've installed octane in a new computer, with a processor AMD 5900 and a GPU Nvidia Georforce RTX 3090. I'm running Octane stand alone ver 4.04. When I launch the software I get nothing on my viewer, but a small message on red at the lower right corner "No CUDA GPUs", when I open File/Preferences/Devices the video card is there selected in yellow, but nothing happens. Just did a clean install of the latest drivers but it didn't help. Does anybody has any thoughts? thanks!
RTX cards are not supported in version 4. You'll need to upgrade to the latest version to use your GPUTripiox wrote:Hello everyone, recently I've installed octane in a new computer, with a processor AMD 5900 and a GPU Nvidia Georforce RTX 3090. Hi,
OctaneRender v4 does not have the support for RTX 30X0 Ampere GPUs, since it is based on a very old CUDA version.
To have the RTX 30X0 support, you need to install 2020.2, to work with CUDA 11.2.
V4 was based on CUDA 10, and cannot be rewritten from scratch to work with recent CUDA versions.
So, the only solution is to upgrade your v4 licenses to 2020, to be able to use new 2020.2 versions, or greater.
Your commercial v4 licenses are perpetual, and will be always yours.
Now you have some possibility to update your licenses to v2020.
If you want to use new versions, you can purchase an annual Enterprise subscription update for 199€, but at the end of the annual maintenance, your licenses will go back to v4:
https://render.otoy.com/shop/upgrade.ph ... C67-UGAA1Y.
if you want to upgrade also your v4 perpetual licenses to perpetual v2020, the upgrading path is more expensive, 499€:
https://render.otoy.com/shop/upgrade.php
Please note that all new subscriptions offer you the possibility to use any type of Octane DCC plug-in, including C4D or Maya, or OctaneX, and ORC/RNDR subscriptions, (render credits need to be purchased separately).
Happy GPU rendering,
ciao Beppe

That´s cool, you buy a new card and than you can upgrade! So they get money. If I know that i don´t have bay the v4.05 version for 699€ lifetime lizence. Upgrade to the new one no way!, in 3 years the some problem new hardware, new Version. But 199€ each year is better, they earn more money. That is horrible.
Came back after years to play with Octane and finally found in this thread after reinstalling for hours my drivers etc.
Supported Octane since Beta and now my License is useless.
When i see it right there is only a subscription model which makes absolut no sense for someone who is playing around when time allows.
Is there no way to use a Octane 4 License with a RTX Gpu??!!

Nope, but v4 is from 2016!
Now we are at v13.
How could you expect to be able to use it on new hardware?
You could try with the demo version, or take one month Studio+ license for 23,95€, and also try the extra software like Cascadeur, EmberGenFX, Architron, Mol 3D, and UX3D gITF Scene Toolkit, to check if it worths to update.

There have been five generations of NVIDIA GPU architecture families since Octane 4 was shipping. Otoy generally does a very good job of maintaining backward compatibility, but that is a lot to ask. I doubt current drivers provide what Octane 4 requires, even if the hardware itself is capable.Murd0ck wrote: Is there no way to use a Octane 4 License with a RTX Gpu??!!
