Hi,
I needed to render FP objects, I used to, but I can't anymore.
Fp object is set to "automatic", and octane to "direct"... not good ? All become very slow, sometimes it work, sometimes it loop form 0 to 1 sample...
I can't close rendering viewport window, and need to kill max.
Any advice ?

Hi, Paride here is the scene with just forest pack.
With direct mode, render loop 0-1 sample. When the scene is very heavy ( lot of polys and maps ) , this loop inhibit to close octane render viewport render.
I tried all modes, but even legacy had problems.
What is the good workflow / settings ?
This problem was solved in previous version, and is back ?
to render my scene without problem I used Forest instancing tool... to remove FP and work with instances...

press Quick update mode in Octane viewport or "always enable Quick update" option in Octane preference > Viewport

Yes with direct mode I can render FP, but sometimes I need to uncheck direct mode. Then, if I forget to check direct mode with a FP, in a big scene, Max freeze ( loop ) and I need to Kill Max...

Yes it is not made very good. I always need to use legacy mode for ages now. Otherwise you will get problems with the loop issue.
Also, the Quick Mode doesn't work well sometimes.
iToo changed the SDK for other renderer with its Version 7, so it would be up to Otoy to include more compatibility and missing features into Octane.

Yes legacy works, but you loose real time interaction with FP.
You should write a pre render script to set "forest pack support" to "legacy" and post one to "direct".
Or a maxscript with 2 buttons.
Or render with Vray or corona

Hi PAride,
When using legacy itoo camera doesnt refresh. So if camera turns we have no grass. So now we stuck: quick legacy mode but no animated itoo or camera visibility or direct mode but eval times 30 sec per frame
