I'm trying to render instances of car in a layer, so I've create an id attribute for instance colors, I've checked packed geo ... and on the IPR only 1 layer is visible All-1 and the render file (layer 2) is black ???

If I unpack the cars and uncheck of course packed geo I have in IPR my 2 layers ... ???

Are layers not compatible with nodes containing packed geo ?

I'm not sure if the layerID feature is compatible with the packed geo instancing. I'll take a look at it, but meanwhile probably the only workaround is to use a conventional instancer using the "instance" point attribute pointing to the master objects. If you want to share the scene I could take a look at it here.

Thanks,

At least in this case the problem is that the layer must be set in the master objects, not in the instancer. I mean, you need to set the layer in the sphere and in the toy.

Hmm, but this ID can't be set from any attribute. It comes from the "Object Layer ID" parameter only.

Thanks,

I create an id attribute to affect colors in shaders, it works fine without the instance method, maybe it will be more clear with this video because my english is not so good :/ : https://streamable.com/yeaqmi

Thanks for your help

Sorry, I'm still trying to figure out what could be the problem. Probably something related to the packed geo instancing. As a workaround, have you tried to create a setup using a conventional instancer adding the "instance" point attribute pointing to the master object?

Thanks,
-Juanjo
