Modeled in Rhino3d
I am still working on the plastics, adding ink in the ink tube, creating bump or normal maps for the molded letters, and alpha maps for the printed letters. I will probably add light scratches across the plastic to give it character also. I need to tweak the rubber grip material a bit as well. I am opened to suggestions. Eventually this will be used for an animation in a short film im about to make

I have also rendered this in Maxwell as a test comparison for my boss. matching the plastic was easier in it, however, I would like to get the same look in Octane since it cleans up nicer and is MUCH faster for doing animation. any suggestions? the two below are from Maxwell. my goal is to get away from Maxwell has a whole, but what keeps me with it is its multilight feature as well as render channels.

Well, yes one of the missing features in octane is the render channels, Arion render have this, but its much slower.

Thanks, yeah i have messed with arion render. Dont really like how it handles and have become very spoiled with the speed of Octane. Also just really like the community and support that octane has.

This looks really good! As of right now the only thing I can really think of that you might want to do is add a feint noise to the rubber grip; sometimes those grips are a soft rubber with an almost cloth-like feel to them. I realize alot of those types of pens DO just have a slick rubber grip to them, but I feel like having a more "textured" grip might make this pen look a little more interesting

re rendered it with 2.5
plastic looks a lot better i think with the absorption

also i took up your suggestion with adding some texture to it. its very subtle but i think it does the trick. once i get a change again im going to animate/render it working.

Yeah the texture on the grip looks good! It definitely does the trick. It's JUST noticable, which is perfect. I think it would look a bit fake if you make the bump/normal map any more extreme. Good job!
