Octane bench results vs minimum requirements

Hello, I saw the specifications on the website says I need a minimum of 8GB of vRam for the GPU, but when I use the Octanebench software worked just fine and it gave me an 80.11. I have an Asus GeForce GTX 780 GPU with 3GB of vRAM, does this mean I can still use Octane even without 8GB of vRam? Also I was thinking about replacing my GPU and it seems like Octane only supports nVidia is that true?
