Hello! Octane X won't render anymore on my mac, I'm served with a "Waiting for image..." cryptic message, and I'm very confused as it was working just 2 days ago on my first try.
I'm on MacOS Big Sur (11.3). I have the latest versions of Blender Octane X edition and OctaneServer X Prime installed (PR7 & v22.2). I'm on a 16" 2019 MacBook Pro, i7 2.6ghz, 16go ram, AMD Radeon 5300M 4go.
For good measures, I completely uninstalled both of them and redownloaded/reinstalled them from scratch just to be sure, but I still get the same message when I try to render: "Rendering | Waiting for image..."
Here's what I checked so far:
- OctaneServer is up and running
- I'm correctly logged in, in the Octane Server Settings tab, on "activation state"
- The "Render: OctaneX Engine (v 22.2)" add-on is checked
- The render engine is set to Octane
- In the camera settings, "Octane Camera Imager(Render Mode)" is checked
- I tried these settings on existing scenes as well as the default cube scene, same result
- I ran Blender through the terminal to check the console: "OctaneBlender Engine Create" is indicated when I switch to the render tab, and "OctaneBlender Engine Free" is indicated when I switch off of it, but no console errors or anything
Am I missing something obvious? Any pointers on what I could try to have Octane render? I'm even more so confused by the fact that it was working just two days ago when I tried it briefly!
Thanks a lot!

I have the same computer and I had the same issue because I downloaded the wrong version of Octane (Cuda instead of Metal). In the download page you should see a link at the bottom to download the Metal version of Octane render X and Blender Octane X.
Unfortunately AMD Radeon Pro 555x is a Polaris GPU, but AMD Polaris and Intel GPUs are not supported anymore in new OctaneX PR12/13/14 for macOS 12 Monterey - there were some Apple Metal driver related issues.

You should need to go back to Big Sur 11.6.5, with OctaneX PR11, or you need a Vega, Navi or Big Navi GPU with macOS 12 Monterey, via Thunderbolt 3 port + eGPU box.
Is it possible for you to downgrade or install Mac Os 11.6.4 on another partition, or an external sdd/hdd?

In this way you could continue to work with Blender PR11 under Big Sur.
ciao,
Beppe

I encountered the same issue on iMac and Macbook, and cannot find any fix. So, I guess the problem lies in my GPU which is AMD Radeon R9 M395 (imac) and Intel Iris Plus Graphics 655 (MacBook) and that are not supported, aren't it? Will mentioned solution work for me?
Hi mieron,
yes, both your GPUs are no more supported by Apple Metal driver in Monterey, so yes, you should need to go back to Big Sur 11.6.5, with OctaneX PR11, or you need a Vega, Navi or Big Navi GPU with macOS 12 Monterey, via Thunderbolt 3 port + eGPU box.

Hello guys, I am having trouble running my Octane x blender, CUDA version for Mac.
I have an iMac 3.6 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i9 with Radeon Pro Vega 48 8 GB.
I have checked and both Mac and GPU are compatible ...
Can someone help?
