Does anybody experience a sluggish or constantly pausing Node Editor in Cinema 4D? I did a brief search on the OTOY forums and couldn't find a definitive answer. I disabled Node Preview but that barely helps. I experience this issue in both R20 and R22 with version Octane 2020 1.4 and 1.5.
Do you have any backing node or C4D noise baking function enabled?rondomingue wrote:Does anybody experience a sluggish or constantly pausing Node Editor in Cinema 4D? This slows down the node editor the most.

Also, try Octane 2020.2 RC6:

It's very fast on me. How do you measure it? You'll enlighten the topic if you describe more details. Maybe some video to show your setup and slow parts. You may have some content that can cause loading/preview times, better to show your setup.

Or maybe you are loading your textures from a super slow hard drive.

I think the C4 Shader baking is the issue in Settings. I'll run through a few more tests and see. Wish there was a way to know this beforehand. I thought something was buggy with my version of Cinema or Octane.
If the C4D shader is the issue, make sure to use "use OSL for C4D shaders",rondomingue wrote:I think the C4 Shader baking is the issue in Settings. I'll run through a few more tests and see. and of course, no baking.

It's still rather sluggish. Basically it's anytime I start transforming the scale of a texture or float texture it freezes for a bit or even just moving nodes around. Not feeling responsive. I turned off baking and left OSL on under C4D shaders. Wondering if I should have Auto Load Materials under the Nodes tab on. I'll see if I can do a screen capture later.

This is a quick video I made I made showing my frustration. I sometimes have trouble simply moving the nodes around when I make Transform, Float, Gradient, etc. adjustments. The pauses in the video is me waiting for the Node Editor to respond.
Disable material and opengl previews from LiveViewer->options menu and try again. It seems like waiting for generating the previews out of node editor.
