I have an animated vertex map controlled by fields (the object is also animated on Y axis) that is causing octane to crash I am using to mix between materials.
I did see a previous post that mentioned collapsing the vertex map preview fixes this but it's not helping my issue
Any help here appreciated been crashing all day

Hi,
you forgot to mention which exact version of plugin you are using ;)

Please go to c4d menu Script or Extensions/Console, (Shift+F10), and share a complete screenshot of the panel, thanks.

Please also share a screenshot of the material setup, thanks.

Hi Beppe,,

I am on 2020 1.5 TBH I have had a lot of problems with the mix material for quite a while. The moment I put a material in to the mix I get a crash

This material works until I duplicate the material and change the vertex map

Thanks

Hey Beppe

I found a 'fix'.
I had a scatter in the scene, if this was turned off it solved, although in general I have a lot of issues with the mix material crashing for some reason.
I made the material a blend material rather than a mix which also made it stable

Please make sure you attached a sample scene and video to show the crash cases.

Aoktar, I shared all that Beppe asked for - I can't share the scene due to client confidentiality.
If you would like to see this issue I would be happy to make another example though just let me know here in this thread.

On a wider topic, a couple of friends and I all have ongoing issues with the mix material. Unless the mix material is made in the node editor (this is the only hack we could find) it will always crash when the 2nd material is added. I think that that two maybe linked possibly (both issues pertain to the mix material). They could also both be linked to having a scatter in the scene I will do some more testing with both the blend and mix material.

Hi Burgess AK,
sorry but we are not able to reproduce the issue here:

Do you mind to share an example scene that shows the issue?

Please, also try to use the Composite Material, instead of the Mix Material, and report back, thanks.

ciao Beppe
