I'm trying to combine two materials, either by stacking or a Mix Material and can't get the alpha right. What I want to achieve is the material of the signer acting as an alpha for the other light-emitting material.

I tried it with stacking and don't have a problem with the alpha, but can't get the light material to come through the white values of the singer material. I also tried it with a Mix material, and it's the result I want, but when I scale the texture down, the light material doesn't appear outside the singer's image dimensions.

I've attached my project file and also an image to help show the problem. Any help is appreciated!

I'm not exactly sure what you're after with this setup, but if you set the Border Mode on the Shirly.psd Image node to "White Color," that should do the trick. Maybe if you can describe the application with some more detail, there might be a more elegant solution that doesn't require any C4D material stacking.

I could've sworn I tried that, but "White Color" worked, thank you!
