I was able to "export selected" with anything i select in maya with no problem. I just upgraded and now, i can't export octane alembic by selection unless it's "root" on the tree. if I try anything under that, it seems to ignore entirely resulting in a 2kb file of nothing.
anyone know how to fix this? the only error i can see is "octane: wrong uv data...." we haven't changed anything in workflow from when it was working. I also just tried applying a UV map to all object to see if that made any difference, but it did not.
thanks!

Thank you for reporting this.
We were able to export the Octane Alembic with no issue on maya 2019.3.1 and OctaneRender v. 2020.1.3 - 17.23.
Could you please PM me your scene if possible for us to test?
cheers
Kind Regards

I won't be able to share the scene, but when i get a chance, i'll test with some random objects to see if the problem reproduces. if so, i'll send that over.
thanks!
Another question; i'm trying to convert my workflow over to using Maya entirely. In stand alone, there is an infinite plane object that can be hidden from the camera. Is this doable in maya the same way?
thanks!

You can quickly switch any mesh object to infinite plane by a checkbox in "Octane" rollout of the mesh. All the visibility settings - the same standard as for any other Maya geometry objects...
