I've been using 2020.1 R6 and have noticed that scatter objects seem to intensely increase the poly count in my scenes now, where I almost can't navigate around a scene while having the live viewer running. Has this always been the case? I thought I remembered that the scatter objects essentially worked like an instance where it didn't actually increase the poly counts in the scene. My scenes here lately have been running pretty slow using same models and assets that I've used many times in the past without these viewport and polygon count issues. The poly counts have been going pretty high, way up into the millions now, which I'm pretty sure didn't used to happen. Of course my memory could be crap so... :D Anyone else notice this?

Out of curiosity, do any of your scattered objects have materials using vertex displacement?

ciao Beppe
I've updated to the R7 version and this issue still seems to be there.
The c4d cloner system still seems to work as it should using the render instances option. So I can have 5 buildings or 5000 buildings and the poly count remains the same. However, the octane scatter object, using either surface or vertex, can get into insanely high poly counts really fast by increasing the count. I may be crazy and this has always been the case, but I feel it use to work pretty similar to c4d's cloner / render instances method. Correct?

I'll see if I can figure out how to revert to r21 for now. I know it's possible just need to find it on Maxon's site.

I see that topic talks about the viewport refreshing. I'm not having an issue with that, that I know of... haha. The viewport works pretty much the same. It's a little slower sometimes because of the poly counts now, but other than that it's the same. :)

Aoktar, I really appreciate your work and support! You do an awesome job, man!

Thanks again!
