Dear Aoktar
I have a big scene with lots of textures and geometry. To do not get so much usage of RAM out of GPU I compressed the textures. Some with BC1 some with BC3.
The RAM went significantly down but! Now everytime I open the scene or when I calculate the materials it takes ages around 15min till the cpu has finished the work ?? Even if I change everything back to Auto compression the Multicore CPU runs and runs ... Even when I change in the settings Multithread off for the materials it is running and running... I am running on 10.13.6 mac and 3 x1080ti in the back... This behaviour is really annoying, please help...
kind regards from sunny cologne

Disable opengl previews and material previews before opening the scene for testing.

ok I changed all material to auto file in ... file was behaving fine, despite 4GB out of core textures...
Changing to compression on some textures made the plugin crash... Now start again with no opengl preview...
Putting the compression on the imagetxtures let the Multicores start again..

Delete texCache by "Empty texCache" and disable texture caching for testing again. Other than this nothing to do by me. Please report it to Otoy support

Now I opened the file ...after displaying the material etc ... Multicores were silent... texcache was deleted and tex caching disabled ... For rgetting ready to render I have to recalculate the material ... than multicores start again running and after a while crashing
what do you have to calculate for material? what you mean?martinzip wrote:Now I opened the file ...after displaying the material etc ... in c4d you can calculate the material from the material manager... I had the experience that when I do not calculate the materials again even directly after reloading the file prior rendering the renderer crashes... so my habitude now is recalculating before starting the renderprocess
ok after 16min ...crash...I will have to switch off the computer switch of the case with external GPUs than restart, recalculate and hope that the compression stops sometime...than start a LV render stop when successful and start the render job.... could be more easy...
