Hi everyone! I'm completely new to 3D modeling, but can already tell I need additional horsepower for my renders. Right now I have a Lenovo Thinkpad with i9 and RTX4000. I want to add this https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/desktops-a ... 9LE9700309 as an external gpu. That will bring my total to 16gb.

I'm confused on how this works and have searched the forum for a while, so I'm hoping someone can put this in plain English for me. Will Octane recognize and use both my internal gpu and this new eGPU at the same time? If so, do you have a link to supporting docs, where I can learn how to configure it? Or, maybe you have a better piece of advice for equipment? That would be great also.

Thanks for reading!

Hi Harold,
no problem, eGPU is completely plug and play under Win 10.
Basically, for the system is like having a second GPU in a desktop PC.

My only concern is about the GeForce 20170 in the eGPU box, since you already have a Quadro RTX 4000, I would prefer to have another Quadro RTX GPU in the eGPU box.
In this way, they will share the same Nvidia driver.

ciao Beppe
