On the Dirt Tex node, one of the parameters is called "Radius map", but I think it should be called "Radius Max" or "Max Radius" if it needs to be the same as stand alone.

It's called Radius Map in Standalone as well, and with reason, since you can use a texture or a procedural to "modulate" the defined Radius.grimm wrote:On the Dirt Tex node, one of the parameters is called "Radius map", but I think it should be called "Radius Max" or "Max Radius" if it needs to be the same as stand alone.

Maybe "Radius Power", "Radius Modifier", or something similar would be clearer.linograndiotoy wrote:It's called Radius Map in Standalone as well, and with reason, since you can use a texture or a procedural to "modulate" the defined Radius.grimm wrote:On the Dirt Tex node, one of the parameters is called "Radius map", but I think it should be called "Radius Max" or "Max Radius" if it needs to be the same as stand alone.

Why? It's function is to "map" the radius, so Radius Map is the perfect name.Maybe "Radius Power", "Radius Modifier", or something similar would be clearer.
To be clear:
Oh, right. I see what you are saying. I was thinking of it wrong, and in the C4D plugin where I spend most of my Octane time, Ahmet calls that input the Dirt Map, which I think actually makes more sense and is more accurate. By calling it the Radius Map, you imply that it influences the strength/distance/power of the Radius, when in fact the actual distance from the corners and edges where the Dirt appears, i.e. the Radius, is controlled by other settings.linograndiotoy wrote:Why? Language is a subtle and tricky thing.

Thanks Lino, I should have checked the software first, but this is what let me astray.

The windows octane server studio on the customer download page for 21.7 stable links to 21.7_beta.exe. (the mac and linux versions link to the stable versions.)
Sorry to post in this thread, but I am not given the option to reply in the release threads, although I see others reply.
