I'm using Vertex Displace with an Octane Noise procedural plugged in but I get normals artifacts and wondering how to fix this? In the old texture Displace this was caused if you has the displacement set to "follow smoothed normals" instead of "follow geometric normals" but the new Vertex Displace seems to be missing this.
Unfortunately this a CAD converted model, so the geo is quite shit. Remodeling in quads isn't an option on this one.
I'm in Octane 2019.5 for Maya.
Help with Vertex Displace normals artifacts

don't have an answer to your problem.
but i highly recommand to try Moi3D, if you need to convert CAD data to clean Poly model.
at first glance the ui looks toyish but the tool can accomplish miracle.

cool thanks for the tip. I use a very simple converter program called "cad exchanger" but has the problem that it won't merge verts on contiguous surfaces, and doing that to high poly models in maya is excruciatingly slow (i've been waiting a good 30 minutes now just to merge the verts on a 600,000 poly piece
) Haybe Moi will give me the extra control I need to get useable geo directly out of export.
