Hi,

This is a beta release of the OctaneRender™ 2020.1 for LightWave™ plugin version 2020.1.0.4, available for LightWave 11.6, 2015.3, 2018.0 and 2019.0/2019.1 Windows x64 and OSX. This build has been compiled using the Octane 2020.1 RC2 core.

To use Octane 2020.1, you need to have a Studio or Enterprise subscription license. We recommend you to update your NVIDIA driver to at least 435.80 for Windows or 435.12 for Linux.

As with all experimental builds, we advise to not to use this release for production purposes. We can't guarantee that scenes saved with this version will be compatible in future releases, and we anticipate there being several maintenance releases.

New features
To learn more about the new features and improvements of OctaneRender 2020.1, please check out the 2020.1 XB1 release post, but this is a quick list of the main new features that have been added. The features not listed here, like the new universal camera node, will be available in the upcoming builds.
  • New option to enable the RTX improvements.
  • Spectron Area and Sphere light types.
  • New Hosek-Wilkie Spectral Sky Model.
  • Improvements to Round Edges artist control.
  • SSS Improvements and Random Walk SSS.
  • Spectral Hair Material.
  • ACES: new workflow and Image Container File Layout
  • Volume Step % and Shadow Step %
  • Volume Sample Position Displacement
  • New Universal Dirt System

Release Notes
==========================================
RELEASE 2020.1.0.4
=============================================

* PLUGIN FEATURES AND FIXES:

- Fixed a crash while rendering particles with the update material option enabled.

* OCTANE 2020.1 RC2 FEATURES AND BUGS FIXED:
- Performance improvement when using fast rounded edges with RTX geometry.
- Make the ground in the Hosek daylight model dark when the sun is down.
- Added sun intensity parameter to daylight and planetary environments.
- Added opacity pin to shadow catcher material.
- Fixed scenario in which geometry processed using RTX would be displayed in the wrong order.
- Fixed scenario in which mediums would be not displayed correctly when mixing RTX and non-RTX primitives.
- Fixed wireframe info pass with RTX on.
- Fixed inability to use extra UV sets with media.
- Fixed issue causing info passes to get stuck at sample zero.
- Fixed a bug where enabling shadow pass makes the main render pass's surfaces a lot brighter.
- Fixed an issue with double-sided surface when using mix material, where the backface and the frontface should have its surface shaded equivalently.
- Fixed illegal memory access happening during scene compilation with meshes producing very large vertex buffers.
- Fixed issue that caused geometry that is on an inactive render layer to become visible behind a surface with a specular material with "affects alpha" on.
- Fixed some scenarios producing wrong results due to alpha sampling not properly working with multiple layers inside a mix material.
- Fixed artifacts with vertex displacement when the geometry has no UV and projection type is set to mesh UV.

Happy rendering,
Your OTOY Team

Thank you very much for this update, I very need it.

Hem... sorry for the question, I have missed something: what are the RTX and the non-RTX gemoetry/primitive?

Thanks

Thank you for this update!

The wrong object order using RTX is indeed solved!
So far I can tell with the short tests I've done, it seems pretty solid!

Thanks!

When IPR is rendering a layer of some object if that layer is deleted in Modeler while IPR is running Layout crashes.

Great, thanks for the update !!!
I have a question.
Can I use Volumetrics from Area light now? "Spectron Area and Sphere light types."

Every day I wish something like that in the Octane for LightWave so that I can cut the walls of my architectural models.

It is possible for Juanjo to create a clipper like this in the next versions of Octane.

I would be very grateful.

It would be great to have also Octane connected to the modeler, because when I'm doing mappings on the modeler I can't see the images I'm mapping on a surface, I always have to guess what I'm mapping!

My only request is the Octane for Lightwave manual to be updated so i can understand how to use volumetric vdb files with octane.

The last update is in 2017 :(

Juan, can you please fix this Clone IPR crash ? It's still there in 2020.1.0.4 (2019.1.5 also).

Thanks

Would it be possible to select multiple nodes from the same family and then I can change their parameters at the same time? ...

This would make things much easier for us users of Octane!

In the video I shared I show an example of the need I feel when I select multiple texture nodes.

It would be great if I could change the images of multiple nodes at the same time.

I think it would be really cool if it worked for similar nodes.
