Render engine in this project is missing. Plugin (ID 1029525

We have a Team Render setup that was working with Octane perfectly two weeks ago. Now, every octane job gets the error: Render engine in this project is missing. Plugin (ID 1029525)

We have tried all of the following but are getting the same result:

1. Copying and pasting the contents of a project to a new file.
2. Using an older version of C4D (r18).
3. Creating a brand new C4D file with only a cube and octane render.
4. Changing the Team Render Server.
5. Changing the Team Render Clients.
6. Reinstalling Octane c$d plugin on all machines.
7. Installing Octane Standalone on all machines.
8. Verifying that Octane works in C4D on all machines.
9. Opening all ports on all machines.
10. Fully updating Cinema 4D.

At this point we are tearing our hair out and losing production time. Has there been a change in the way that octane verifies? I have searched exhaustively both here and with google.

In team render mode, c4d keeps a different prefs folder. And it needs to have oct.dat file

Thank you for your response, aoktar. Would it be possible to elaborate on this? Again, I only ask after searching extensively, and I apologize if I have missed some documentation, but all that I could find that seems related is a post from 2016 in which you state that oct.dat is an outdated solution.

I am not clear where the oct.dat should be placed and whether it should be TR Server, or clients, or both.

I'm not using teamrender since a long time. Go preferences in teamrender mode and locate where's prefs folder. Also check console outputs.

It sounds like a duplicate of the plugin. So I searched for all instances of the plugin and it only exists once. Please advise.

Yes only reason that's duplicated. Please do a better search. You may have another build in another location.

There was a phantom copy of the plugin within the hidden Appdata folder of a user that was hidden from search. Now manually removed.

Now the remaining errors from the log seem to be reduced to:

The oct.dat file is now mirrored across the C4D team render and server folders in C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\MAXON\

This prevented any errors in the log when the TR server restarts, and the Octane:Plugin activation OK. icon

However, as soon as an Octane job is started, the following error appears in the log:
