Hello
I recently saw a Maxon video from NAB. It dealt with revealing different displacement with the use of vertex maps produced by fields. Link below. The renderer in use was Redshift.

We have a project coming up and we want to use a similar approach. However I cannot get the displacement-mixer or the vertex map in conjunction with displacements to work.
The displacement mixer does not output any result at all. Also as soon as I hook up a displacement node my vertex map disappears.
Is this a know limitation or is there a work around?
vertexmap and displacement

+1 This really needs to work.
4x 2080ti hybrids, 4x 980ti Hyrbids. C4D, Houdini.
I came today to make the exact same topic.
Now that Octane natively support Vertex Weights and also we have Vertex Displacement having this not working is a total bummer, this kind of effects using vertex maps along with displacement is super common in today's Motion Graphics. I would very much love to have this working.

This is not a plugin based problem or request. We can use everything that's supported by the renderer
Octane For Cinema 4D developer / 3d generalist

We should have the pieces to support this native in 2020.x. Will circle back with Ahmet to discuss how to expose to the C4D plug-in, and what further changes may need to be made to the core if necessary.
