Hello,
This past week has been horrible with every scene consisting of trails rendering as hair has crashed a lot and had many frames with artifacts. We use x-particles trails, but it also happens when they are baked to alembic.
It happens in different scenes, on 3 different machines with different OS (2x win10 and win 7).
Octane 4.05-R7, C4D R20 and R21
It happens in both complex and simple scenes.
Here are some examples:

Bug report from recent crash:
What to do? I can't go back to Octane 3 (this scene rendered just fine couple years back).

It's a crash on the renderer not plugin. Please post a sample scene and description how you get crashes. Also what's your driver version?
And what's artefacts you see, mark in pictures

Hey Ahmet, thanks for getting back.
Sample scene here: Marked pictures: Video with artifacts: https://vimeo.com/388826026/497140529b - particles are still small and slow, so everything you see are artifacts. this scene rendered fine a couple years ago.
Crashes are scene dependent and can happen every few or every few hundred frames. The artifacts are way worse to deal with as nothing helps - no baking, alembic, changing object to hair, nothing.
Drivers:
1st machine: 419.67, win 10, R20
2nd machine: 441.20, win 10, R21
3rd machine: 419.67, win 7, R20
I found 419.67 to be the most stable for my work.
Best,
MELT
