Im trying to set up a rhino scene so I can render it using my octane plugin. So I go to change all materials to octane materials, and many give me errors.

Is there a way to categorize this large list of materials? And rename some of them? As you see, many of the materials under the "misc" category are randomly labelled, making it almost impossible to find a material by name.
Is it possible to view all these materials as icons in a finder? Or rename them and set categories? This is really needed. It's not useful as it is.

A lot of them are crap and it's hard to find the rest.

They really need a good cleanup.

This is not really Rhino specific though as it's the same wherever the LiveDB materials are used.

+1 It would be nice to have this mess cleaned up... IMHO it would be nice to have a few really good materials for a start and then update it regularly ...

The materials which are random characters appear to be double-byte characters in Octane Standalone, so I will request OTOY provides support for these material names through the Octane API. The rest of your requests would need to be executed at the LiveDb end, not in the plugin.
The Steel material has a blank Image node - so this might be causes the Octane Log errors. Can you tell me the other materials which pop Log errors please?

Thanks

Is this something I can fix on my own?

I dont remember the other ones popping up. Does someone on your end test these materials?

Thanks.

The LiveDb is managed by OTOY - so that is a question you would need to put to them.

Thanks

Either post in the Octane Standalone 2020.1 release thread, or click the Support button at the menu at the top of this page.
