I write yet another desperate post for the continuous crashes of Octane on Cinema 4D.
I don't think it's normal to have an average of 10 crashes per day and sometimes with the complete shutdown of the Mac!
I know that the support of Nvidia cards is problematic on Mac + eGPU but the situation is dramatic ... I also updated from version 4 to 2019 hoping for an improvement but stability is always a mirage
Is it somehow possible to find a way to work without having to have all these crashes?
You can't work without crashes if your hardware or drivers have problems. Having shutdowns is proof of hardware problems. So what kind of help you need?
As Ahmet said, if it's taking down your whole machine, it's probably a deeper problem than Octane. If you are unfamiliar with egpu.io, you might want to check out:
.. and related threads. It's a nicely supportive community.
For what it's worth, our shop has stuck with 10.12.6 Sierra on half a dozen different Mac rigs, with both internal and external GPUs, and everything has been very stable for quite a while.
That said, Octane 2020 needs 10.13, so we'll probably make that jump sometime later this year. That is if we don't just leave NVIDIA for AMD, should the ever-elusive drivers actually become a reality.
Hi Stefano,
without c4doctanelog.txt and bugreport.txt files, it is difficult to say anything.
Anyway, please go to c4doctane Settings/Others and share a complete screenshot of the panel, thanks.

I'm not saying that is the a plugin issue but just sowing my situation. I hope Octane X will arrive as soon as possible in order to solve this situation for us Mac users but at the moment there are no news ...
