Hi Paul,

I have been using Rhino 6 SR20 with Octane 4.0.5 without problem. Last week I bought an Enterprise license and started using OctaneRender for Rhino6 2019.1.4.115. It worked for a few hours then start crashing. And once it started crashing, no matter what you do even without opening a file it will crash within 10 seconds.

Then I updated the driver to the latest DCH 441 and it still crashes. Reinstalled Rhino and Octane 2019.1.4.115 from scratch and Rhino still crashes within 20 seconds right after opening.

Then I deleted everything and installed 2919.1.4.114 and again, it worked for a few hours then stop working the other day, keep crashing. I tried deleting the Octane plugin and Rhino will not crash.

By the way it works on C4D R20 with no problem.

This is on a MSI laptop with RTX2070 maxq, Windows 10.

Attached is the Rhino crash file. Thanks.

Hi

Can you try deleting your config.xml file (described at https://docs.otoy.com/RhinoH/RhinoPlugi ... ration.htm).

Let me know if this helps.

Also - do you have the OctaneRender panel docked to the Rhino Properties panel?

Thanks

Hello Paul,

Just did what you suggested and the problem is solved! Took me two days trying to figure it out.

Is it because there is a conflict in configuration between Octane 4.0.5 and 2019? How come other people has no problem?

Thanks,

I'm not sure - sorry. HOWEVER....by deleting that file you delay the checking of a new plugin release until tomorrow....so if it crashes tomorrow, please let me know!

EDIT: If you have a copy of the old config.xml file, please send it to me, and I will check out what might have caused the issue.

Well, you are right Paul. It crashes again today. Just by opening Rhino 6 without doing anything it crashed!

Attached is the crash dump.

Thanks.

I am sorry you are having this issue. For some reason on your system the "check for a new version" code is crashing. I will PM you are test release to try to track down the exact reason. In the meantime, please delete the config.xml file to run the plugin.

Do you have an Enterprise or Studio license please?

Hi - can you please tell me if this version resolves your problem? It is the Octane 2020.1 build of the plugin, which I am planning on releasing in the next day or two.

Thanks

Paul,

I have not installed the 2020 yet as I open Rhino today, something different happened. An Octane Update window popped up, this has never happened before. I even restarted the computer a few times and Rhino has not crashed yet. I am on 2019 114, not 115 as I had downgraded Octane from 115 to 114 but both versions used to crash. Did they do something to the Octane server side?

I will update you if I find anything. BTW, do we need to install Octane Standalone 2020 in order to use your Rhino Octane 2020 Plugin?

Thanks.
