Hi!
I’m octane for C4d since 2014 and I ‘m very happy.
Now, It’s time to get over.
So, some weeks ago I’ve start to move to UE4 thanks
The Datasmith that make everthing very easy from
Cinema ti Unreal engine.
My question is: how to use the octane plugin for UE?
Can I export my scene using octane materials? (Ar the moment
just c4d materals works) and can I bake the scene as I do
now? Or I have to use RTX. cards?
Thank you.
L.

Hi lucioing ,
The easiest way to do it is to export your c4d scene or parts of it as an ORBX or animated ORBX file.
In Unreal Octane just import it as "ORBX scene as proxy".
It works very well for me and you don't have to tweak your materials again.

First of all, thank you for your reply...
The second: what about Octane for Unreal? Is it free? can I have a trial or demo version? Can I install it, using my my license?
So, if I understood, I can work as always in c4d and octane materials; then export orbx file...
Ok!
Thank you!

During the Beta you can use Octane for Unreal with any existing Octane license. There is also a free tier you can subscribe to.lucioing wrote:First of all, thank you for your reply...![]()

After the Betam, Octane for Unreal will follow the same licencing rules as the other plugins.

How do I setup a ORBX as a proxy in unreal?

Are you using the latest version of the plugin?
Does this happen with all your ORBX files? or just this one?
Could you share your ORBX file?
You can open the ORBX asset via the content viewer. A nodegraph will then appear. If it is empty, something went wrong during importing.
Additionally, there should be an added geometry output node in there that has all the geo connected to it. If that is missing, nothing will show up either.

I am experiencing the same. The ORBX file is fine and all the elements are there.https://i.imgur.com/gYOLEsT.png When I import as stated above, I only see the Octance symbol in the scene. https://i.imgur.com/OpnbxCm.png
Also, the live viewer doesn't appear to start/work.
Unreal and the Octane for Unreal plugin are current versions. Stand alone is 2022.1

When using an orbx as a proxy, you will only see the contents in octane, and not in unreal.14bmwc780nike wrote:I am experiencing the same. If you want to see objects in unreal, you will need to use the "Import ORBX scne (Convert)" option.
To start the live viewer, you need to select a rendertarget and press the render button.
