I think the link is missing? I am unsure yet if the new lights in Octane 2019.2 will be able to be implemented in the Rhino plugin. In theory they could be auto-generated from Rhino lights, although this would break old scenes which has had emitter geometry added to the scene to provide the light from Rhino lights. I will know more once the Octane SDK is available for Octane 2019.2.

I hope that even rhino can have these lights. Rhino is mainly used by designers and this type of lights is essential to be able to create photorealistic interiors as they simulate the lamps used by the photographic studios that produce catalogs

Are there any new lighting features with the latest octane and Rhino 7.

I still find the emitters very hit and miss and have not been very successful with trying to load ies lights and getting them to shine the right way, have the correct size hotspots etc.

Cheers

Hi Tim

Code: Select all

2020.1.4.122
- Experimental support for the Octane Quad, Sphere Lights. Go into the Setting windows and enable the Convert Rhino Lights checkbox. Mouse-over this setting for details.
So far there has been zero feedback on this feature from users.

Thanks

Hi Tim - click the Settings button which is next to the Open Viewport button, and then tick the "Convert Rhino Lights (EXPERIMENTAL)" checkbox.

Thanks
