Forgive me if this has been covered a million times... I am assuming xGen still is not an option in octane for maya.
Trying to make a big ol fury abominable snowman... on an abc mesh.
I tried paint effects which renders fine but the hair dose not "stay" with the animated abc mesh.
Any way to do this in octane for maya... or even standalone with an abc hair write out with teh character mesh?
Thanks
Peter
Hair in Maya

This is a Maya 2019 optimization bug.p3taotoy wrote: I tried paint effects which renders fine but the hair dose not "stay" with the animated abc mesh.
paint effect works very well on animated alembic mesh in Maya 2018.
You can also make it work in Maya 2019 by changing in preferences/settings/animation/evaluation from "parallel" to "DG".

Thanks Calus,
That helped.
Same scene different question.... I have a locator at my characters head. I put my octane depth of field on my thin lens at the distance that the locator is from the camera lens.
The head is sharp enough for my needs and I can live with the fact that other areas that may be in close proximity to the camera lens distance but "down" in Y from that point. I am assuming that this is accurate DOF.
BUT
Why is the foreground grass sharper than the grass directly beneath the character?
Any help appreciated.
Thanks
