Hello,

I think a lot of us planet obsessed people would like to know how to create a hyper-realistic atmosphere.
Currently I’m using a sphere with a volume inside BUT the atmosphere stops suddenly once in space. I’ve tried layering multiple spheres using a cloner which looks great but render times become immense. (Scale +0.02 times per clone)
Note: I have seen the volume shaped to a sphere approach but the voxels aren’t aligned to the planet normals so it looks like a Minecraft atmosphere up close.. Also the planetary light is very limiting.

I heard speak of Octane coming to Terragen back in 2013 but nothing since. This would be a great opportunity for Otoy as Terragen is used by many huge studios.

I love Terragen too, and procedural planets, terrain and atmosphere are on our to-do list. The Planetary environment node in V4 was a first step at something more ambitious. That being said, we do have OSL volumes now in 2019.1+ and the ability to bootstrap voxel sphere volumes (so you don't even need to start with a VDB sphere), as well as meshes or vectron.
