Hi there,
we're trying to render some 7k images for print, but for some reason Octane 4.00 keeps crashing when trying to save beauty and AOV as exr's. It works ok when saving to png's (at least until 5k), however anything beyond 5k has crashed when I set it to save as exr's. Just using GI_AO at 1500 samples. It crashes when it still says 'Render progress...' in the PV, didn't say that it was rendering any info passes yet, or Frame finished.
any clues on how to fix this!?
Oct 4.00
5x RTX2080Ti
Cheers!

Are you using the AI Denoiser? I've found it uses a lot of RAM (Even 64 GB isn't enough for larger images) and will crash when trying to save the image if it's too large.

As shinybinary already pointed out, it most likely crashes because of the AI Denoiser.
Had this happen quite often - have you tried the octane 3.08 plugin?

Hello,
I have the same problem: C4D crashes with AI denoiser and high resolution.
Problem started with Octane 4.02.1-R2 and is still in 2018.1.
Same with 2018.1-RC6.1 (Test version).
It is recreatable for me with a simple scene.
RAM is definitely not the problem. Without AI denoiser no problem. Lower resultion no problem.

I found this in the Generell Discussions: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=69765
Not a new one, but we are not the only ones with this problem. But doesn't help anyway...

I attached a simple scene, with this the crash is reproduceable on my workstation. I Added the corresponding log.

hi tried your scene and it worked. activated the 4th graphic card. no problems.
but I am having CUDA Error 2 after some hours.
2950x TR
128 GB Ram
Gigabyte X399 Designare EX
4x 2080 ti
different driver (417.22, 417.71, 419.17)
if I deactivate one graphic card it works and doesn't crash.
your scene works fine with 3 and 4 graphic cards but its really simple your scene.

Thank you for testing Thorwald!
My only conclusion is now that you really need that much RAM for the AiDenoiser to work with higher resolutions. I have only 16GB RAM and for 1080p it works...
Best regards,
Denis
