Don't know about anyone else, but the denoiser has changed my life.
Nothing more to say really.
AI Denoiser is awesome - thank you, OTOY

Thank you! On behalf of the team it makes us so happy to get feedback like this! We’re just getting started!
What are your basic steps using the Ai Denoising in Octane/Blender? I get a server crash in the way I'm currently trying to use it.Whispermode wrote:Don't know about anyone else, but the denoiser has changed my life.

I'm not at my machine, so exact names may be wrong.brent_3d wrote:What are your basic steps using the Ai Denoising in Octane/Blender? I get a server crash in the way I'm currently trying to use it.Whispermode wrote:Don't know about anyone else, but the denoiser has changed my life.

1. Turn on 'Enable Denoising' in the 'Spectral AI Denoiser' section of Octane Camera Imager. Make sure Imager is activated, too.
(this activates the Denoiser).
2. Turn on 'Render Passes' and ensure 'Beauty' is highlighted in 'Denoiser Passes'
(This makes the denoised pass available for output).
3. In the Compositor, check 'Use Nodes', and change the way the 'Render Layers' node is connected to the 'Composite' node. Change from 'Image' --> 'Image' to 'OctDenoiseBeauty' --> 'Image'
(this outputs the denoised pass)

Honestly, it's difficult not to get overly-emotional here. Between V4 and 2018.1, we're seeing dramatic effort from you guys on functionality, and taking the pressure off having to buy stacks of expensive GPUs to get freedom and flexibility in the design/render process.Goldorak wrote:Thank you! I'm getting cleaner animation renders in 100 samples plus denoise than I used to get on 600-700 samples+. Seriously?? I can explore and do things that I was never able to before.
The platform is stable in Blender. Standalone just rocks. And stuff gets fixed quickly now. The OTOY team gets a lot of sh*t but, if we all stand back for a minute, the product is crazy-good.
Oh, I did get overly-emotional.
Oh my God!! Thankyou thankyou! I also turned on Denoiser Beauty in the Preview Pass Type and the viewport is unbelievable. Great job out there OTOY, Octane/Blender is ahead of the curve..Whispermode wrote:I'm not at my machine, so exact names may be wrong.brent_3d wrote:What are your basic steps using the Ai Denoising in Octane/Blender? 1. Turn on A.I. Denoiser in the Octane Camera Imager. Make sure Imager is on, too
(this activates the Denoiser).
2. Turn on Render Passes and ensure 'Beauty' is highlighted in 'Denoiser Passes'

We're so happy about your positive feedback!
I agree, Octane 4 is some kind of revolution, and really shines in Blender!

Good afternoon
I know this is an old thread...and probably since blender 2.80 it has changed...
I see the "AI denoising" option in the octane camera tab....
But where are the render passes and beauty settings?
thanks in advance

Great - and not all passes can be denoised as yet (there's a separate section for everything that can... as you've probably seen).davorin wrote:Never mind...found it (o;
Looks really impressive
@otoy - please, please add a denoise option to render layer reflection and shadow passes.
