It used to be pretty straightforward before, when it concerned just textures, but not geometry. And it used to work fine for me.

However now, since the upgrade to include geometry too, i just cant make it to work. Currently trying to render scene, which is based of 860MB OBJ file. The computer has 32GB DDR3 RAM and geforce 780ti 3GB. If i disable out of core, it loads just fine, Octane takes per its own table of system resources 1,9GB....but it works OK. It is mostly geometry + about 5 textures taken over directly from modeling app.

If i enable out of core, the rendering fails. I tried various numbers of system RAM available (8GB, 28GB out of 32), various GPU headrooms (1000 MB, 100MB), it still fails. Am i doing something wrong or is it somehow buggy?

EDIT:

Just to be more descriptive about what happens. I click on the render target > loading mesh - the green bar thing on the octane icon happens > picture of my scene pops up > it says it takes 1663/2363/3072MB > caching mesh - the loading green bar continues to happen > red letters GPU failed, vram usage drops to 660 MB. If i go on to look at preferences, it says Octane takes 924MB and out of core used is 1,1GB.

Compared to this, if i disable out of core> click on render target > loading mesh > 1663MB > caching mesh > done, 1767MB. It works, no render failure. If i look at system statistics usage at preferences, Octane usage 1,9GB, out of core - as expected - 0.

Hi,
please share the .orbx with me via PM.
I have tried to reproduce the issue with a GTX 780, but here the out-of-core option works as expected.

ciao Beppe

Thank you

I tried to send you private message with attached ORBX as zip, did you get it? I see nothing in my outbox for whatever reason, i suppose it might have failed, cause of the size of the attachment? It was 154MB. Is there any size limit? I would need to send it via some file-sharing service or something like dropbox link...

Thank you again, Beppe. I just send you PM with the dropbox link.

Please let me know, if you need anything else. Looking forward to hear from you, whether you will be able to replicate the problem at your side.
