OctaneRender™ for Blender 4.0 RC2 - 16.2.2 [TEST] — it is written that "material missing issue in particle system with inactive source objects", but I previously reported that this issue also appers for object instances like "Group instance" for the Null object: if source objects are located at inactive layer, the instance is rendered with no materials.

You can reproduce this issue this way:
  1. Create some object(s) with materials
  2. Add it (them) to some group
  3. Move them to inactive layer
  4. Create Null Group Instance (Shift+A > Group Instance...)
  5. Try to render
