Underwater Caustics

Is it possible to achieve underwater caustics in Octane like those in the attached image? If so, could someone please point me towards a solution. Thanks.

This is something probably best achieved in post.

If I were to do it in octane, i would probably fake it using volumetric light rays passing through a plane with the opacity map set to an image like this:

you could even use an image sequence for movement.

Maybe do it it in two passes, one for the underwater environment etc then another pass for the light rays and comp together.

Thank you very much for this.
I had wondered whether compositing would be the best way but wasn't sure how to go about it. The caustics image you posted is probably the best I've seen, it looks totally real to me - do you mind saying where I can find it? Is it part of an image sequence that you referred to?

I just searched "caustics" in google images. Should be something you could achieve natively in AE.

Also there is a free caustics generator program that can work here:
