Sound Effector colour input

I've created a basic EQ visualizer (file attached) but the colour shader doesn't seem to be bringing in the gradient from the sound effector correctly, in fact it's quite (within the spectrum) random.
Any idea what it is I'm doing wrong?

Hi,
instead of using a c4d shader, you can use the Instance range node with an Octane Gradient to do the effect:
