Hi, so since we are investing in octane we think of getting a new machine. I played in a friends setup with 8x1080ti with octane in c4d and i noticed that the cards had a good 1 to 2 minute to kick in the render fully, mostly in picture viewer. This made me skeptical about how to setup my new machines. For stills doesnt matter much, but for animation that i do and i render always with 3 cards (1 in my machine and 2 as slave in the next room) in the particular scene i needed about 1 minute and 30 seconds while 8 cards much more powerful than mine needed 55 seconds. This totally hit me as a huge waste of money or as something was wrong in the hardware setup.
So is it better to have 2 cards per machine and 4 machines via network? Will things play ball better than stacking as many cards as i can in a single WS? What should i check before building such rigs?
Thanks

For my experience is really important during the initial phase called Exported material" and "updating" the CPU speed on your machine and also if the card is directly mounted on MB or connected with a riser.
