Hi Friends,

I'm having a strange issue with the C4D viewport not redrawing unless I move the camera. Selecting objects in the object manager (or even clicking on them in the viewport) doesn't highlight them, objects won't update when being moved via their axis but if I move the camera it forces a redraw and moves smoothly until I let go of the mouse button.

The Octane live viewer works great and rendering to picture viewer isn’t an issue, just the viewport in Cinema. I’ve tried turning off Hardware OpenGL acceleration with no luck. Also tested the “Use OpenGL for Preview” setting within Octane.

I've wrestled with it for about a week and narrowed it down to the Octane plugin 3.07-R2 Stable and 3.08 Test6 when combined with the AkiTiO Node eGPU with a 1080Ti running the latest NVIDIA Web Drivers. When I remove the plugin, the viewport works as intended. Specific details listed below.

I’ve followed all the instructions for installing the latest version of the NVIDIA eGPU enabler and am not having any issues with the eGPU accelerating my external display or even my internal laptop display. Even Octane Benchmark is running smoothly.

Let me know if I’ve missed any details.

MacBook Pro 2016 w/ TouchBar
High Sierra 10.13.2
AkiTiO Node TB3 w/ EVGA GTX 1080Ti Hybrid (Acer X34 attached via DisplayPort to eGPU)
NVIDIA Web Driver 378.10.10.10.25.102
CUDA Driver 387.99
NVIDIA-EGPU-v4-CU installed properly with “csrutil —without kext”
Cinema 4D R18.057
Octane Render 3.07-R2 (or 3.08-test6)

Interesting situation - I opened a version of the project file saved back in 2016 created with a previous version of Octane and the issue isn't happening at all there, but in the newer version of the project file it is.

Sync Geo is disabled on both files.

It must be a setting somewhere but I can't figure out which one. I tried to open them both and A/B the settings but they seem identical on my end.

I've attached Dropbox links for both files below - v19 is experiencing the issue and v18 isn't.

Quick update: I think it may be related to materials somehow. When I click on an Octane Material in the Materials Manager, the viewport stops updating unless I move my camera. If I delete all Octane materials, it returns to normal.

After some testing, it looks like Materials Previews seems to be the culprit. When it's disabled, the viewport locks up, but as soon as I turn it on, everything begins working as normal.

Hi Futoryan,

Did you manage to fix this problem? We're working on iMac's and it seems we are also getting the viewport freezing your describing when using Octane Live Viewer and trying to use the multi view mode in the viewport?

Thanks,
Chris

Same here, exactly same Problem. Simmilar SetUp.
Right now, I only get the Issue when rendering Xparticles with Octane.

Somebody solved the Problem yet?
The workaround with Material Preview didnt worked for me.

Exact same problem here, C4D R19 With Octane 3.08.

I was able to solve it by copying entire scene and pasting it to a new project. Now it is working as it should.
