Hi,
We are having trouble rendering a scene which worked fine earlier last month. Not sure what have changed or causing it but seems to be a problem with octane scatter since it renders fine without it. Strange thing is that it usually renders a few frames before the crash happens. The log that I find through “Octane Settings>Settings>Other>Show render log” shows different results even on the same computer but usually says:
“CUDA error 719 on device 1: unspecified launch failure
-> failed to deallocate device memory”
During different tests we tried, noted below, we have also got these:
“CUDA error 702 on device 1: the launch timed out and was terminated
-> could not get memory info”
“CUDA error 999 on device 1: An unknown internal error occurred.
-> could not get memory info”
The scene we are trying to render have a lot of grass and rocks scattered as well as big textures. We have “Out-of-core” enabled which never seem close on filling up the ram we allow it. Have read all the forums threads I can find regarding these errors and tried all the tips that go with them. Maybe I missed something. We even tried recreating the scene and redid all the scatter.
Have tried:
4 different computers with similar hardware and setup.
With/without the SLI toggled
With 1 to 3 graphic cards toggled
Several different octane versions. Version 3.07-R2, Version 3.07-Test6, Version 3.08-Test6
Several different nvidia driver versions. 382.33, 388.31 and a few others.
Adjusted Out-of-core
Lowering the diffuse and specular depth
Raising Timeout Detection & Recovery (TDR) delay
Recreating the scene including the scatter
All above without success. Lowering the samples made the render work one time and fail a few although this is not an option. Only thing that works and yield good results is exporting the whole animation to Octane Standalone which renders without any problems.
This link convinced me of trying 382.33 of nvidias drivers which didn't work for us:

Also tried a driver version that one of you developers said should work from another thread. Tried this yesterday but with all test that day I can't remember the version.

Please go nvidia and download 382.xx and make clean uninstall and install 382.xx. Later try with that. Cuda errors are mostly not up to plugin parts. You should check this when you think that was working fine old days and started to give cuda errors.
Also out-of-core is just for holding textures in RAM. Not for geometries.

Hello,
As I wrote we have tried 382.33. This was with a clean uninstall then install. Feels to me like a plugin problem since it renders fine with Octane Standalone. Geometry is only around 1.5GB, see logs.
Forgot to mention that the animation is purely a camera moving... Everything else is static.

Ok so please send us c4d scene to let us investigate/reproduce it. Thanks!FreddieBrandt wrote:Hello,
