I need to try updating my nVidia driver to see if After Effects 2018 will work more reliably. I'm seeing strangeness and apparently the later updates (388.31 and higher) are working fine.
Last time I updated my nVidia drivers to the latest, Octane did NOT like it.
Does anyone here have a recommendation on what is reliable right now? I looked at the latest Octane release and it says anything higher than 37x.xx is fine...downgrade if you have problems.
nVidia Driver 388.43 or 388.31

382.xx is fine for me.

I am on NVIDIA Driver 388.2, and it is NOT AT ALL stable. Octane crashes within an hour of starting pretty much any render.
I am trying to roll back to a 382.xx Nvidia driver, but every time I get one installed, Windows 10 seems to force it to update again, back to an unstable 388.2. How are you guys able to maintain those 382.xx drivers? Following instructions I've found online to Control Panel > System & Security > System > Advanced System Settings > the Hardware tab > Device Installation Settings and selecting "No" there does not seem to prevent the update of the drivers.
Does anyone have any idea how to maintain those 382.xx drivers on Windows 10? Or do I need to install a previous version of Windows?
Thank you for any help!

Hi fathappymedia,
my advice is disable window 10 autoupdate and unistall Nvidia driver using the following tool:
Display Driver Uninstaller DDU http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/dis ... nload.html
then perform a clean Nvidia driver installation.
your problem should be resolved without further issues.
