Hi everyone,
I dont know if this is the right thread, but i think that it is something interesting to all LW users.
I am very worried about the LW future and Octane. I would like to know the roadmap of Octane for LW. Nobody knows anything about LW Next, it could be that LW is dead.
I think that all of us who dedicated to work with LW needs a answer.
Thank you very much.
Future of Octane and Lightwave 3D

Please ! Not here !
The LW forum is already full of all these worries / questions.
For the moment, LW is not dead.
Let's wait!

Juanjo could probably shine some light on LWNext, since he appears to have access to it, but I'm sure he is not allowed... Man, would it be sweet if he could just give up anything that might alleviate our worst fears...

Hello,
The future of this project is bright so far. I have no plans to leave the Octane for LightWave plugin development and support, adding all the new Octane features to it and eventually supporing the next LightWave version when available. So, don't worry at all, at least from this side
Thanks,
-Juanjo

Thank you very much for the information Juanjo.
Borderline, the question I have proposed is perfectly understandable from Octane's point of view. I would like to know if the money I invest has any future near or it is worth looking elsewhere.

Juanjo, are you able to say anything beyond the fact that you plan to continue developing the Octane LW plug?... Are you in any position at all -- to give even the tiniest nugget of information -- that you personally have seen continuing and (more importantly) recent progress of LWNext? Surely LW3DG can't have NDAs that preclude folks from saying "hey, this mofo is rockin' my socks off -- and you guys are going to poop your effing pants when you get your stinkin' paws on it!!!" (perhaps not the way you would word it)... Certainly it can't be that all encompassing, can it?juanjgon wrote:Hello,

Acrom and Frank,
Yes, totally understandable!
We are in the same situation!
But do you really believe that JuanJo or someone else will say publicly YES, LWNext is coming, he is awesome or NO, LW is dead !
It's reassuring to ask the question, but it's totally useless.
I think the best solution is to prepare for a LW3D failure.
If it's true, the transition will be faster!
If it's wrong, it's always good to see how other apps work.
Regarding Octane, it is not possible to migrate licenses LW to C4D for example.
OTOY just offers a discount on new licenses.
Acrom : Great site and great job!

Thanks for your words Borderline.
I guess I'll be naive to think that Newtek or whoever is developing LW can think of its users ... if they are developing it ...
