Ya, but the installation guide states that it has to be 2017.1, and i tryed to follow it but using the .2 version but it dont work... thats why i was wondering if there is any new info on how to get it to work on .2 as was mentioned in the unite video.

The installer has not been updated for 2017.2 yet, we will update it soon.andrekling wrote:Ya, but the installation guide states that it has to be 2017.1, and i tryed to follow it but using the .2 version but it dont work... thats why i was wondering if there is any new info on how to get it to work on .2 as was mentioned in the unite video.
OctaneUnity will, if possible, to install itself into whatever version of Unity that tries to use it. So if you install for 2017.1, create a project with OctaneUnity, and then upgrade the project to 2017.2, OctaneUnity will install itself for 2017.2.
I tried Octane in Unity 2017.2 and it did download the new Octane version automatically. However, with my A320 test scene, Unity crashes when loading Octane. The Octane Unity team already has my project file so you can test it but be sure to use the latest one.
Another problem is that if you create a new project and install Octane, it will download it again while it is already been downloaded before.
..other then rendering in unity, what is the purpose, what can you do there..
- also what about octane licences for this, you need any, or any extra?
..also why no unreal support or will it ever be?

In addition, I always get this error in Unity 2017.2 when creating a simple one cube scene and render it with Octane:
The way to fix it is to delete the plugins folder, exit Unity, delete the Library folder, start Unity, install Octane again, then it works without the above error.Tried to access pin via an invalid index 1
Tried to access null node pin
You can download an octane project from the asset store and it will install the plugin automatically.
I also had this issue and it was not at all apparent that this was the case. So there's no need to have 2017.1 installed just to upgrade projects.

With the complete release, you can use Octane to render your lightmaps, and use Octane to render an animation sequence you made in order to record a video project.acc24ex wrote:..other then rendering in unity, what is the purpose, what can you do there..
Information about this will be provided when we're launching.acc24ex wrote:- also what about octane licences for this, you need any, or any extra?
This subforum is being monitored by the developers working on the Unity integration of Octane. We don't have any information about the development for Unreal unfortunately.acc24ex wrote:..also why no unreal support or will it ever be?
