Hi

Is there a way to retain a complex mix material hierarchy when copied to C4D library? I know you can through LiveDB. but this does not help when saving an object with a mix material to the library

I've been doing exactly what RJMEngineering said, you select a mesh it could be a shaderball, sphere or just a null put your top level mix material along with all the other materials that belong to that network and add to it a selection tag placeholder like "null" so they don't interfere with the top level mix material, then when you bring back the shaderball or whatever you could just leave it like that or delete the extra material tags, this may seem like a little inconvenience at first but you get used to it really fast and this gives you the advantage of being able to use the lower levels materials in other networks as well.

Thanks "Terryvfx"

That does work for objects with mix materials, now to get an option for saving mix materials to the library with hierarchy intact
