Hello,

How do I get my .orbx to play on the Gear VR? I have exported it from Unity and dragged into the Media folder within the ORBX media player on the phone and it is unable to play. I can locate it in the media player, but can not start it. Any help would be great.

Thank you,
Jeff

This would be a question for our ORBX media player devs, but I think it is because the ORBX file is not compatible. The ORBX media player expects an ORBX file with a render, whereas yours contains geometry.
If you want to look at your scene on the GearVR, you would have to render it as a stereo cubemap. This is currently not possible in Unity, since it doesn't support images large enough. We'll look into a way to display the result in Unity, so that this becomes possible.

Correction, you can render this, but you'll need to use the Octane GUI to view your rendered image.
Set your camera to Panoramic, projection to Cube map (+X,-X,+Y,-Y,+Z,-Z), enable Keep upright, stereo output to Side-by-side, and your resolution to 18432 x 1536. If you save this result to disk, you can drop it into the ORBX directory on your device and view it with the ORBX Media Player.

So I get an error when I try to bump it up. I am currently using the free version of Octane, so could that be the issue? If upgrading will allow for high res images, it would be worth it but I need to know that it is possible first. Also, how would I do a video like the ones on the ORBX Media Player page? Is that a different piece of software after taking frame by frame images and putting them together to save as a ORBX file (might be for the ORBX devs, in which I would love to talk to them too)?

Thanks for the suggestion of rendering a larger image in the Octane GUI. Is there any way to accomplish this in an automated manner when attempting to save timeline animations?

You can use the PBR Timeline window, where you can batch of director jobs, which will all be rendered to disk using the active PBR Render Target.

With the release of 1.1.0.1223 you should be able to render at stereo cubemap resolution (18432x1536) which you can use for the Gear VR.
