Hello,

is there a way to make wrinkles map with octane in 3dsmax ? like this old one : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y8rFxe9Svfg

the 3dsmax morpher mat dont work with octane.

for the moment i use dense mesh...but its not the solution https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gae1-9KZkXs&t=11s

thank you

Hi visionmaster2,
I personally do not know the limits that prevent integration between 3dsMax maps and materials with external rendering engines.
A workaround, not adaptable to any situation, could be using an Octane material mix node and animate amount in the 3dsMax timeline during your morphing phase.

Thank you Paride,

it is not possible to animate by hand such mocap file (150 blendshapes/morph) and the wrinkles map transition must be an automatic process to have the correct /acurate animation.
With Octane we can't have wrinkle map and blood pressure map. That's the only render enginee that don't have this possibilities.
that's a pain in the ass for me, but for the cartoon series we have in preproduction, we will use another render engine.

sorry for my bad english

Thank you

Hi visionmaster2,
I see. can I ask you in your opinion what is the best rendering engine for this workflow?

Hi Paride,

i think Vray is great for that http://lesterbanks.com/2015/10/wrinkle- ... lacements/
the process is almost similar in Arnold or mental ray and reeltime.
another exemple here : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tEundsR3TJ4

Hi visionmaster2,
thanks, I'll investigate this to figure out how to improve workflows like these using Octane Render.

Hi,
maybe a workaround could be exporting blendshapes to .abc, baking Wrinkle Maps sequence, then use those in displacement slot.
