I had a situation come up in a project that I wasn't sure of the technique for so I wanted to post it here--
In a nutshell, I have a render that is using in-camera DOF and has a focus pull using a focus object with the C4D camera.
In the compositing, I realized that I needed some extra utility passes for some things I needed to do, including a UVW (Texture Coordinates) pass.
The issue I then discovered was that I (obviously) didn't want to render the DOF in the UVW pass because that gives incorrect values and incorrect results. So I need to render it completely sharp, and then also render out a Z pass so that I could apply DOF in post to the additional layers.
The reason for this post here is that I was wondering if there is any method by which I can render out a Z-Pass that somehow incorporates the focus pull that the Octane camera is doing, so that the keyframed values will match up at the same timing. Obviously I wouldn't expect the radius of the DOF to match, but I just wanted to see if anyone had any clever method of somehow generating a map that allows me to carry forward the Focus animation I did in C4D into compositing.
Make sense?
Thanks!
A method to perfectly match Z-Pass DOF with In-Render DOF?

Hi bowserlm,
Z-depth works in meters, so you can insert the exact focus point distance, please, have a look at this picture
