Maya display layer doesn't manage what's rendered in Octane
Moderator: JimStar
As the title suggest. When I hide item in certain layers in maya that I don't want to render, it still all shows up in octane. Is there anyway to only render stuff that's visible in Maya?

Try giving the bits that you don't want rendered a temp material and in Octane render with an opacity of 0.That should do it.One warning.make sure you use pathtracing as direct lighting leaves a shadow of the original object behind.

hi people, i dont know if u understand but exporter i wrote is using maya obj export to export meshes, so u cant use any "features" from maya like layers, render layers or anim layers...
script also check for obj visibility, so if the obj is hidden, script wont export that mesh, im not sure about groups i have to check about that one.
cheers
