Freeze, Black Screen

I have an extremely frustrating problem, freezing and restarting, black screen etc, after 30 days of suffering I get a new computer and again I have the same issue, on other hands I have couple machine that works almost perfect with the same version of windows, same software version and that makes me crazy because I didn't find any logical answer.

My last machine has AMD Threadripper 1950x, 4x 1080 TI, 128gb Ram, Octane 3.06.2, standalone 3.06.2 with GeForce driver 385.41and win 10 last update 1703.

I was testing Nuke and Houdini no problem at all even with a heavy scene, same with octane standalone, but when I load live viewer C4D and scene with simple cube my system freeze or black screen, same with the old machine that has similar configuration only with Intel i7 and 4x 1080
Everything is updated, I have r18 fresh install with no single plugin, I try to break my system with many stress software and my machine is super stable, I try to use only one GPU or installing old version of Nvidia, and yes my SLI is disabled, I read many posts before asking for help
Redshift and Cycles work with no single problem.

Has anyone run into the same problem? Any suggestion, please!

It may not be a bug for plugin or octane. Try older drivers and different os or remove some updates of win10.

For me it's hard to understand because any other software is working super fine, now I need to play with drivers and all this shit, I become so frustrated that I called Microsoft support, I never do that in my life Guy from Microsoft spend 3h on remote trying to fix, I reinstalled my computer 3 time, changed ram, power supply and finally I spend 8k to get completely new computer because that was the only solution that I had in my head at this moment and again the same problem, I really appreciate that you are always trying super hard to help everyone but I can not accept that is not problem with octane or octane plugin after 30 days of trying everything except voodoo rituals.Cheers

I bet its not a plugin issue. Because it's not dependant to drivers or gpu directly. Octane is sensitive to bugs of drivers or gpu defects. Any other software may not be using same functionality as octane does. Try my advices.

Hi creatorz,

Do I understand correctly and does your pc only freezes when running the OR plugin? Not with other software and not with standalone, and not with c4d without plugin running?

I do have similar problem with PC freezing getting blue screens only when running plugin,
and I just found out that it might be the gpu in first pci slot not rendering at all... Not in plugin, but it works in standalone. I have changed the gpu in st pci slot for another card, and that gave the same result. I am still investigating, but if you have similar problem... maybe we can learn from each other.
But then I am working with ArchiCAD plugin, so I do not know if there could be same issue?

Hi Rappet,

Correct, only when I hit render to live viewer or render, I try to use only one GPU or changing the slot but always the same, right now I tested multiple version of Nvidia driver and this didn't help either, next phase is installing windows 8.1 and windows 7.
What is confusing right now is the fact that I have other servers and some of them are a real mess that works perfect, with the same windows version, same graphics card, soft etc.

@aoktar, do you mean me and teamviewer... I cannot now, but I will pm you for that if you want t o see what is happening with my plugin... For your info: I am running ArchiCAD plugin though, not c4d and I adressed my issue to paul.

Anyway, @creatorz, I found that one pci slot was not rendering by activating just that one card in the plugin and noticing there was no progress in rendering. Did you not find the issue with just one slot on your mobo? Trying to see if you have same sort problem.

Hello to all,

Like Aoktar advice me I installed an old version of Nvidia and it works, I did it before but it was not old enough I tried from 385.41 to 384.94 with no success, so my first computer with Intel,x99 e-ws motherboard and gtx1080 become stable now.
For another machine with Threadripper and 1080 ti nothing works except 378.92, it seems that problem is ''Nvidia driver'', I Never ever experienced the same problem and Sometimes is hard to understand what's happening under the hood because my stand alone works perfectly with any version of Nvidia.
@rappet I believe that our problems are different, but try messing with Nvidia driver anyway
