Perhaps the day has finally come that we can gently push this old dinosaur Win7x64Pro into the nearest tar pit?... Do you think MS got the GPU memory crap fixed, at least for this version of 10? What are your thoughts?

Thanks Frank for sharing. Hope at least we'll be give full VRAM and more resources on PCIe devices - for now 7-9 seems to be a limit on dual xeons.

So to get the 'VRAM hole' issue fixed by M$ we need to buy a 'special' version of windows?

In all seriousness it looks good; kinda feels like they're getting a bit modular now, anyone else getting that?

Does anyone have any scoop on when this pup is coming? I'm not finding any release dates. Seems like it should be pretty dang soon...

Hello, I am now running Windows 10 pro. I can say I see no difference at all with the performance of Octane as is, currently, vs using Win 7 64.
Nvidia RTX will require Win 10's Direct X 12, so not a bad time to just make the move. Of course, back up that Win 7 drive 1st!
I have seen on realtime PBR applications that Win 10 handles graphics better, ie overlapping opacity textures do not flicker or pixelate, so you might see some benefit outside of Octane actually.

Notiusweb,

How many GPUs are you running under Windows 10 Pro? Have you noticed any IO space benefits, particularly in the number of GPUs supported?

If I may join, Tutor. I am running 11 GPUs on X10DRX - both on Linux Ubuntu 14.04 LTS and Windows 10 Pro (but with 9GB of VRAM on windows). 10 GPUs are at 8x, 11th runs at 4x. Soon I will test a first machine with 11 GPUs on the new X11 Supermicro platform and 96 lanes. 4 GPUs will run at 16x and there is also a built-in M.2 slot... and 10 Gb LAN.

Thanks Smicha. Please keep us posted. Meanwhile I'll check out the X11 Supermicro platform - here, again, thanks for the updated info.
