Hi,
Is the additional vector grid + "absorption/scattering from the additional vector" a way to map color directly to the shader? If so, I am unable to get it to work and would appreciate a workflow explanation. If this is not the intended use, how would u go about directly coloring voxels from another volume with color information?
Thanks
Yaniv

Hi Yaniv,
I'm afraid that currently in Octane you can't use an RGB type grid to directly coloring voxels. As you can see in the available volume shaders, there isn't any option to make it possible. You can use gradients, but not direct RGB colors.
The additional grid option was added from a feature request for a user that needed to visualize the velocity grids magnitude in a scientific visualization rendering.
This is indeed a good request and very useful. I hope to see this kind of features in Octane once we have the OSL feature in place to write custom shaders.
Thanks,
-Juanjo
