Alright guys... I feel like an idiot for not being able to figure it out but I don't know how to get environment textures to work in 3dsmax Octane. Can someone explain the process to get an HDRI image loaded to affect a scene instead of a sun?
I started by following this tutorial, but it seems a little out of date with different names. http://www.vizpark.com/hdri-lighting-wi ... ne-render/
I've tried putting both the raw texture and the "texture environment" map into the environment map slot. I've attached an RGB image with the texture connected to the Texture Environment map. I've tried attaching that to the texture option in the Octane Sun.
I've found these threads that seemed helpful but didn't conclude anything:

I'm able to get results but none of them seem right. Like I have to adjust my exposure to be either extremely high or seriously low. I hope I just have a setting wrong. I'm also not able to see the image as a background. What all needs to be done so that I can see the HDRI in addition to my scene? Do I need to make a separate spherical and texture that?
Any and all help is appreciated. I've done my fair share of googling but still wasn't able to figure it out. If someone can lay out the steps that would be amazing.
HDRI workflow. Help!
