Hi guys,

got a problem with the Modo plugin and VDB files.

I followed Paul Kinnane's video on youtube but the problem is that after setting up the scene nothing shows up in the Octane render window and in the internal renderer there is only a grey ball.

I'm using Modo 11.1 and Octane 3.6.1.120. The VDB file works fine in the standalone.

Any ideas on where to start troubleshooting this?

Thank you!

Would you be able to send me the VDB pls? If you urgently need to get around this, put the VDB into Octane Standalone and connect it to a Geo Out node, then save as ORBX and load that ORBX into Modo as a Mesh Octane proxy.

Hi Paul,

Thank you for the quick reply.

Unfortunately it's a VDB I bought so I can't send it to you. I also contacted the maker of it but he uses only the C4D plugin which seems to work more like the standalone as it has an Octane VDB object.

I will try the workaround for now.

Best,
Jan

Hi Paul,

I managed to import the ORBX as a proxy and now at least I have something in Modo. However I have no control over the material. Assigning a material to the proxy object has no effect.

Is there a particular way on how to get the volume medium specific controls in there? Using a nodegraph is not working either.

Thanks again!

Best,
Jan

Hi Jan - you need to setup and edit the Volume material in the ORBX in Octane Standalone.
