Octane Plugin refusing to open

Hey community, so I recently acquired OctaneRenderer, and when I went about installing it into the plugins directory, I encountered a strange issue. When launching C4D (R17 Studio), after launch I can see the Octane tab, however I cannot select it nor use the drop-down for the live viewer, nothing. No functionality, just text that says Octane.

I tried placing it into the Maxon directory that the preferences tab uses, and here is where it gets tricky. When I did so, and removed it from the first plugin directory, the plugin disappeared entirely from Cinema. Am I missing an install, a file, or something?

Im running a 980ti GPU and I just updated the software and graphics shenanigans today, and I already tried install in different directories. I also activated my license, and can confirm via the actual Octane program that I am established and verified.
Im stumped, anybody got an idea? :?:

Hi Jrogers,
please, update your Maxon R17 to the latest version, then remove the c4doctane-R16.cdl64 file and replace it with the correct c4doctane-R17.cdl64 file related to your version.
